Zach Brown is worried that Max might switch to Mercedes.
Zak Brown admitted that he is concerned about the prospect of Max Verstappen's possible move to Mercedes, and it would be more advantageous for McLaren if the four-time world champion remained at Red Bull Racing.
There have been longstanding rumors about Verstappen's team’s negotiations with Mercedes, but despite numerous speculations on the topic, there are no convincing facts to confirm this; only opinions from various well-informed individuals within the paddock.
The McLaren Racing CEO commented on the situation in a podcast for The Sports Agents: "I think the Mercedes team is currently on the rise. Meanwhile, Red Bull is facing clear challenges at the moment, although that doesn't mean they won't be able to handle them.
Max is a superb driver, so just the mere thought of him ending up at Mercedes makes things quite uncomfortable. Therefore, I would prefer him to stay with the team he is with now. Moreover, I believe that if Red Bull lets Max go, it could become a kind of disaster for them."
Brown's comments come amidst reshuffles at Red Bull Racing, where Christian Horner has lost all leadership positions, and Laurent Mekies, formerly head of Racing Bulls, has been appointed in his place. According to one version, Horner was dismissed partly to create additional conditions that might persuade Max Verstappen to stay with the team.
