Brown: Lando and Oscar would like to compete at Le Mans

McLaren Racing CEO Zach Brown told Sportscar365 that Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri would like to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans one day behind the wheel of a McLaren hypercar, but their participation depends on whether the endurance race will coincide with the Formula 1 stage, as it has traditionally been recently.

Zach Brown: "The calendar is complicated, depending on the schedule of different racing series, and postponing even one date will cause a chain reaction.

I'm not one of those people who can make a calendar, but Formula 1 would like to avoid crossing paths with Le Mans. Obviously, it will coincide with the Indy 500 next year, but as far as I understand, it will only happen once every five years. I think they will try to avoid coincidences, but if I call Stefano Domenicali and say, "I want to be at Le Mans and Montreal, make sure they don't overlap," he probably won't listen to me.

I've talked to our main drivers. It is unlikely that they will be able to participate in the entire championship behind the wheel of our Hypercar, but they would like to compete at Le Mans. It would be great to organize this."

Brown confirmed that the newly announced McLaren United AS Hypercar team does not yet have a single driver ahead of its debut in the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship.
