Ayo Komatsu: It was a very tough day.
Haas F1 scored no points in Qatar and dropped to eighth in the Constructors' Championship…
Ayo Komatsu, team principal: “We could have achieved a good result, the car was fast, the drivers were happy with the balance, but it turned out to be a very tough day.
It’s a pity Esteban couldn’t control it — his car crept forward slightly on the grid and he was penalized for a jump start; we need to look into the reasons.
We made a couple of serious mistakes in the pit stops, but when there are 24 races in a season and we make so many pit stops, mistakes are inevitable. The important thing is that we stick together and support each other. We need to show team spirit and perform well in Abu Dhabi. We want to finish the season on a high note — that’s the goal!”
Esteban Ocon (15th): “I have no words to explain the penalty, I don’t know where it came from. I’ve started over a hundred races, always followed the same procedure. That penalty ruined my race. Last year the team was quick in Abu Dhabi, I hope we will do better there.”
Oliver Bearman (retired): “The car allowed us to fight in the top ten, we were hoping for a good result, but we were unlucky with the incident that happened ahead. We gave up a few points to our rivals, but there’s the final race ahead where we have the chance to make up for it and recover what we lost. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to finish the season with a good result.”
