Elbon: We'll have to focus on working with the rubber.
After a decent run of point-scoring performances, the Williams team failed to score points at two rounds in a row. Before the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Alex Albon worked on the simulator at the Grove base, but together with the engineers he was not dealing with operational tasks and was mostly focusing on preparation for 2026.
Alex Albon: "To be honest, we did a lot of work on the simulator, but in most cases we were working on next year's car. At the same time, we think the Las Vegas circuit should suit us, although while working on the simulator I felt the car did not have a perfect balance. However, I don't think any of our rivals can boast a perfect balance.
In theory we should be capable of good pace. Usually in Las Vegas a lot depends on whether you can get the tyres up to the right temperatures, because that's not easy here: on the long straights the tyres have time to cool down. But this problem repeats every year, so above all this weekend we will need to focus on tyre management.
Over the course of the season we've become better at understanding how to warm the tyres, but time will tell whether we can solve that task this weekend.
Overall, you could say we are happy with how the season has gone, because the team has on several occasions achieved good results, and I did so as well. Mostly we have been fairly consistent, and although that cannot be said about a few of the previous races, we've worked out what caused the difficulties.
Still, in Brazil I felt I had found a good rhythm, and although the battle in the midfield was very intense, we were leading that group, and that's always nice. We hope that in 2026 we can take the next step."
