Verstappen: Fortunately, I didn't need the final lap!

Max Verstappen didn’t manage to start a decisive attempt in the qualifying final at the United States Grand Prix, but the time from his first flying lap was enough for pole. For the Red Bull Racing driver, it was his seventh pole of the season and the 47th of his career.

Yuki Tsunoda ended his qualifying battle in the second session, where he posted the thirteenth-fastest time.

Max Verstappen (1st): “Good qualifying. The car was very quick in every session. I just had to put a lap together, and at times that was very difficult to do. It’s very hot today and there are strong gusts of wind. In the first sector the wind was actually at my back, creating serious problems.

The first run in the final was good, and I even managed to pick up a bit compared to the second one.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t do the final attempt. The out-lap from the pits was chaotic, but, fortunately, I didn’t need the final attempt!”
