Former Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo expresses his understanding of Charles Leclerc’s increasing frustration over his inability to contend for a championship with Ferrari. Despite the 27-year-old Monegasque's consistent declarations of loyalty to the team and his long-term contract, Italian media has observed evident signs of anger and impatience in him lately. "Leclerc is an excellent driver, but he’s aware that time is passing, even though he’s still quite young," Montezemolo told Sky Italia. "He sees new talents like Piastri and Norris achieving victories, which might explain his frustration at lacking a competitive car."

The 78-year-old believes that the problem lies solely with the vehicle rather than the driver. "Leclerc currently has a car that isn’t competitive and must push hard from the first to the last lap," the Italian remarked. "He’s a talented driver. It’s essential to provide him with a car that finally enables him to win, as he deserves it."

Montezemolo also drew a favorable comparison between Leclerc and Ferrari legend Gilles Villeneuve. "Villeneuve was a different kind of driver - he was someone I hadn’t worked with, but he was not the type of driver you could win a world championship with due to his temperament, which allowed him to win many races," he said. "However, he would also make mistakes that cost him."
