Gasly: Finding the right setup will not be easy.
At Alpine they are looking forward with optimism to returning to Baku and the start of the final third of the season…
Pierre Gasly: “I enjoy going to Baku and racing on this circuit, where I’ve already had success, finishing on the podium in 2021 in Formula 1 and in 2016 in GP2. On a demanding track it’s important not to make mistakes, which has helped me before. The long straights and the narrow section in the old city, combined with the high speeds on the barrier-lined streets, increase the risk of accidents. We must be sure to take our chance when it comes.
Finding the right setup won’t be easy; in Baku you need a compromise between downforce and top speed. We’ll try to get closer to that goal as early as Friday, but anything can happen in Baku.
I had a good week between races: I visited the base, worked on the simulator and spoke with the staff. I also went to Paris for a Padel Event with Alpine. I like the sport and I enjoy competing.”
Franco Colapinto: “I’m glad to return to Baku, where last year I scored my first Formula 1 points. I’m comfortable in the car now, although the Monza round was difficult for our team. We’ve analyzed everything, and last week I visited Enstone to prepare for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The Baku circuit is one of the most beautiful of the season, especially its narrow section in the old city. This weekend it’s important to take advantage of every opportunity that will inevitably arise on such a challenging track. We need to achieve the maximum results and begin the overseas part of the season with a positive result for the team.”
