Two F1 stars support Perez for Cadillac.
"Undoubtedly, he is a solid choice."
Two Formula 1 drivers have voiced their support for Sergio Perez to make a comeback next year. Key figures from the sport’s new eleventh team, Cadillac, scheduled for 2026, were present in the paddock during the British GP to discuss potential race drivers, including Valtteri Bottas. However, a couple of prominent drivers believe that the currently jobless 35-year-old Perez would be an excellent selection.
"He is definitely at the Formula 1 level, without a doubt," remarked Racing Bulls driver and standout rookie of 2025, Isack Hadjar. "I've been hearing numerous positive things about him for next year. It seems like something significant is happening," the 20-year-old French-Algerian was quoted as stating by the Dutch outlet Formule 1. "He certainly deserves a spot there."
Although Perez's reputation suffered as he exited the paddock at the end of last year, Hadjar shares the sentiment of those who feel that his standing has improved during his time away. "We're talking about Checo - he performed quite well alongside Max (Verstappen)," he emphasized.
Indeed, Verstappen has been paired at Red Bull with Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda this year, and neither of Perez's successors has done particularly well. "Absolutely, he is a strong option," Verstappen replied when asked about the rumors surrounding Perez's candidacy for Cadillac. "Checo has consistently shown his strengths. Sure, he faced some tough moments with us, but as long as he remains motivated to race, I believe he is an excellent choice, especially for a new team. If you look at his performances with Force India and Racing Point, you'll see he consistently scored valuable points.”
