Montoya believes that Mequis's departure will affect Racing Bulls.

Juan-Pablo Montoya, a former Formula 1 driver, participating in a sports podcast of AS Colombia and commenting on the main news of the week, drew attention to the special consequences of the personnel reshuffles in Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls teams.

It's hard to argue with his reasoning that this whole story and Laurent Mekies' "promotion" may not reflect favorably on the team from Faenza, as it will inevitably lead to some destabilization.

"When this happens, on one hand, it's understandable that Red Bull is trying to achieve stability by changing leadership in Red Bull Racing, but on the other hand, every time they do so, they damage Racing Bulls," believes the Colombian. "But people never think about this. Everyone only thinks about Red Bull Racing. But every time you take a driver and replace him with someone else, the team also suffers.

All these are stability factors that people do not take into account. Red Bull wanted to fire Christian Horner – okay, that's their decision. If they want a new leader to head the team, they shouldn't make these changes at the expense of another team."

However, Toro Rosso, later renamed AlphaTauri, and now rebranded as Racing Bulls, has always been a sort of talent pool for Red Bull, and this was initially implied. But it seems that now this approach applies not only to drivers but also to management.
