Technical innovations showcased at Silverstone

Not all teams prepared technical innovations for the British Grand Prix, for example, Ferrari did not report any steps toward modernizing the SF-25, although it was initially expected that they would present a new set of innovations at Silverstone. However, these were implemented earlier in Austria, which, among other things, allowed Scuderia drivers to finish in 3rd and 4th place last Sunday.

      McLaren

The championship leaders are not resting on their laurels despite their advantage and have prepared a couple of innovations for their home race. Primarily, this is an upgraded floor, the body of which the team announced has been completely redesigned, allowing for optimal control of airflow and more proper distribution of negative pressure zones.

As a result, the overall efficiency of the MCL39 aerodynamic package is improved.

At the rear of the car, the configuration of the brake duct intake openings has been revised. This enhances aerodynamic parameters and provides more effective brake cooling.

      Red Bull Racing

Max Verstappen’s car also received an upgraded floor, while Yuki Tsunoda's RB21 remains the same as in Austria. The Milton Keynes team reported that the placement and geometry of the Venturi tunnel baffles on the RB21, driven by the four-time world champion, have been slightly adjusted.

These changes aim to optimize pressure distribution and increase flow stability.

      Aston Martin F1

The list of innovations introduced by Aston Martin is more extensive, comprising four points. Three of them pertain to the AMR25 floor—its main geometry has been slightly altered, the configuration of the Venturi tunnel baffles has been reviewed, as well as the edges of the floor and additional aerodynamics elements placed there.

This results in improved airflow under the car’s floor, locally increasing downforce, which positively impacts the overall performance of the aerodynamic package.

Additionally, the car has received an updated engine cover—this is related to modifications made to the floor.

      Haas F1

The American team’s cars also received a floor upgrade, which affected its body, Venturi tunnel baffles, and edges.

The explanation is as follows: “Thanks to the updated floor geometry, airflow control is improved, and the ground effect effectiveness is increased under transverse loads. This results in greater stability through corners and higher speeds in the middle phase of turns, allowing drivers to maneuver more confidently…”

Furthermore, the VF-25’s air intake geometry for the cooling system located on the sidepods has been adjusted, affecting the placement of the side mirrors.

      Racing Bulls

The profile of the movable element on the front wing VCARB 02 has been adjusted, considering the specifics of the Silverstone circuit.

      Williams

Williams cars have changed the geometry of the baffles near the front edge of the floor to improve airflow distribution through the Venturi tunnels.

      Sauber

The C45’s front floor area has also been upgraded considering the Silverstone track features, which allows for increased overall aerodynamic efficiency. The geometry of the adjustable front wing element has also been modified, also related to aerodynamic package settings for lower downforce levels.
