Leclerc hopes to compete for victory at Silverstone.
At the FIA press conference at Silverstone, Charles Leclerc summarized the first half of the season. The Ferrari driver admitted that the results were worse than expected, but the team is working hard to improve in the second half of the year.
Charles Leclerc: "I think we are quite satisfied with the current trend. You know, the team is gradually improving, but we can't say we're completely satisfied yet, because the ultimate goal is race wins.
At Silverstone, we've looked quite competitive in previous years, and Lewis has had exceptional results here. I hope we will have a successful season and fight for victory. It's been a long time since the team challenged for race wins, but I hope we can do it this weekend.
The first half of the season was more challenging for us than expected, considering our results at the end of last year when we were fighting for the Constructors' Championship. At the start of this season, we hoped to continue at least from the same place, but the reality turned out to be different. We faced more problems, but the team worked hard, and the latest updates definitely helped us make progress.
I know there will be additional upgrades in the future, and I hope they will arrive as soon as possible to help us close the gap to McLaren and Red Bull. As for Mercedes, they are inconsistent, but we need to perform better than our rivals to reduce the deficit to the leaders.
I don't know how we'll perform in the second half of the season. Hopefully, better than in the first."
