      James Vowles, Team Principal: “During the session we discovered floor damage on both Carlos’s and Alex’s cars. The kerbs here are very aggressive, but to set a good lap time you need to use every millimeter of the track, which today cost both drivers their results.

      We’ll repair the cars overnight and be back in the fight tomorrow. On Friday our pace was strong, and I hope our car will be competitive in the race, but there’s still work to be done before then.”

      Alex Albon (12th): “The floor was damaged in Q1, but the mechanics patched it up so I could get back on track. My run in Q2 on fresh tires had to be interrupted due to red flags, and although I set my time on old tires and with a damaged car, I still qualified 12th and am happy with the result. Without the damage, we could have made it to the final.

      I hope for a strong race tomorrow. I’m feeling optimistic and want to score points.”

      Carlos Sainz (19th): “I’m disappointed. I had brake issues from the start of the session, the car was pulling hard to one side, and on top of that I damaged the floor, which made it undriveable. We need to regroup and find the cause of our qualifying struggles on the Soft tires.

      We were fast on long runs on Friday, so I’m optimistic about the race.”
