Pierre Gasly: I was pushing to the limit and overdid it.

Pierre Gasly reached the final segment of qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix, but in his decisive attempt he spun on the exit of the last corner, and the Alpine driver could not finish higher than tenth. Franco Colapinto qualified fourteenth.

Pierre Gasly (10th): "On the one hand, I’m glad to have made it to the final, but I’m not happy with my mistake in the last corner, as I was having a pretty good lap until then. I was pushing to the limit, and in the end I overdid it, which led to the spin. Fortunately, there was no damage.

In the first and second parts of qualifying I was also pushing hard to get into the top ten. The gaps are minimal, and to be fair, the car had pace today. We worked a lot after the practice sessions to improve.

Tomorrow I’ll start the race in tenth. It’s important to get a good start, and then we’ll see what results we can achieve. It’s great to be in the fight, and now we need to hold onto our position and score some points."

Franco Colapinto (14th): "Overall, it was a good step forward compared to Friday, but I wanted more. The gaps are very tight, and I made a small mistake in Turn 3, losing a tenth and a half. That probably cost me a place in the final.

The wind picked up during the day, so the car became unpredictable, but everyone’s in the same conditions. The car felt better, especially at low speeds, but I’m still lacking confidence in the fast corners compared to previous sessions, so we need to work on that. But I feel like I already understand the car better in certain corners.

Now all attention is on the race. I’ll give it my all and try to gain positions."
